A ‘No’ uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble. — Mohandas Gandhi

Teenage Group

Description

During the years from adolescence through adulthood, many teens experience a lot of pressure due to the demands placed upon them from their parents, peers and social situations.   During this stage of development, it is crucial they have a sense of identity and belonging.  It is our goal at Counseling and Educational Center to create a safe and comfortable environment for young people to express their feelings and emotions openly without fear of judgment and to guide them to choose a path which will make them more successful in life.

In this 8-week session, teens, and pre-teens alike, will have the opportunity to share and explore their feelings and thoughts in depth.  Through a combination of lecture, group sharing, one-on-one work with each individual, and periodic assignments we will address the following issues:

  • self-confidence
  • relationship with self and parents
  • self-worthiness
  • setting boundaries (saying “NO” to drugs, gang, etc.)
  • communication
  • understanding parents
  • peer pressure
  • creation of goals
  • anger management
