A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimensions. — Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

Teenage Group

Description

During the years from adolescence through adulthood, many teens experience a lot of pressure due to the demands placed upon them from their parents, peers, and social surroundings. At this age, what is crucial is a sense of identity and belonging. This is where Counseling and Educational Center comes in. It is our goal to create a safe and comfortable environment for young people to express their feelings and emotions openly without being judged, and guide them to choose a path which will make them more successful in life.

In this 8-week session, teens, and pre-teens alike, will have the opportunity to share and explore their feelings and thoughts in depth. Through a combination of lecture, group sharing, intense one-to-one work with each and every individual, and periodic assignments, the following issues will be covered, among others:

  • confidence issues
  • relationship with self and parents
  • self-worthiness
  • setting boundaries (saying “NO” to drugs, gang, etc.)
  • communication
  • understanding parents
  • dealing with peer pressure
  • creating goals
  • anger management
